Measurement and Evaluation in Education

Purpose of the Program

Measurement and evaluation in education graduate programs started in September 2014. This program aims to train measurement and evaluation specialists who can use measurement theories to explain and measure basic concepts in education and psychology, be competent in preparing and developingmeasurement tools, evaluate the scores obtained, and re-evaluate curricuculum and teaching activities.Individuals who graduate from the program can work in the measurement and evaluation units of schools, departments affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, and measurement and evaluation units of universities. Graduates of the program can work in the relevant units or departments to; use statistical software to analyze data and interpret the results, develop and administer measurement tools and interpret measurement results, create and implement evaluation systems,manage projects, assist researchers, take part in large-scale scientific research projects, evaluate textbooks, and take teaching responsibility for the courses within the scope of measurement and evaluation. There are three programs:Measurement and Evaluation Master's Program, Ph.D. after a master's degree, and Ph.D. after a bachelor's degree (Integrated Ph.D.). Students are admitted to the master's program through an interview. The number of students to be admitted to graduate programsand the qualifications to be sought in candidate students are announced before the beginning of each semester.

This announcement specifies the application conditions, deadline, and the place and date for the candidates' interviews.  Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and must have at least 60 standard points in the relevant score type from the ALES exam conducted centrally by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) or a score equivalent to 60 ALES points from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) exam. The equivalence of undergraduate diplomas obtained abroad must be approved by the Council of Higher Education(YÖK). Candidates fill in their ALES certificates, undergraduate diplomas, approved documentsindicating the success grades they have received from the courses they have studied at the undergraduatelevel, their graduation grade point averages, and other registration-related information and apply to the institute directorate with the candidate number they provide in the internet registration environment until the deadline specified in the announcement. The candidates' registration procedures organized and carried out by the relevant institute directorate. Turkish and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus candidates who have completed the necessary application requirements take a foreign language exam at the Foreign Languages Department of the University. For a candidate to be successful in this exam, which is conducted in the English language and recognized as valid by theInteruniversity Board, he/she must score at least 70 points out of

100. However, candidates who have obtained at least 50 points from the YDS exam or a score equivalent to this score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board and those who document that they have completed their undergraduate education in an education program in one of these foreign languages are exempted from the foreign language exam. Candidates who pass the foreign language exam are taken to the interview exam by the candidate evaluation committee. The candidate evaluation committee assigns an interview grade out of 100. A candidate's scientific achievement level grade is the sum of 50% of the ALES score, 25% of the undergraduate grade point average, and 25% of the interview grade. The interview grade must be at least 50, and the scientific achievement level grademust be at least 60. For Ph.D., candidates must have a Master's degree with a thesis from one of the fields of Measurement and Evaluation in Education, Teacher Training and Educational Sciences,Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science. For Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D., candidates must have an undergraduate or graduate certificate with a GPA of at least 70 points; students must haveat least 60 points from ALES, at least 55 points in one of the qualifying exams such as YDS, E-YDS,YOKDIL, or an equivalent score from another exam (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) English/ French / German), a total of 240 ECTS including seminar course, qualifying exam, and doctoral thesis study. The Master's program with a thesis has a duration of 2 years (4 semesters), the PhD program has a duration of 4 years (8 semesters), and the Integrated PhD program has a duration of 5 years (10 semesters). Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a diploma of science expertise in the field of Measurement and Evaluation in Education.
